Sending your kids to sleepaway camp may be the most rewarding thing you can do this summer. It offers a safe and fun environment where they can rediscover the sense of adventure that may have been missing during these challenging times. At Camp Jewell, your child will have the opportunity to build meaningful connections with other campers, foster self-confidence, and explore new activities. All of this under the guidance of positive role models who are there every step of the way.
For over 120 years we have been providing memories that last a lifetime through our programs that focus on our four core values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.
SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS WITH PLENTY OF CHOICES
At YMCA Camp Jewell, our priority is providing campers with a fun and unforgettable experience while also boosting individual confidence. For that reason, we offer over 35 different activities in progressive skill clinics each week. Our goal is to give campers the chance to push themselves out of their comfort zone and hone their skills even further. We also add new clinics every year because of the unique talents brought by our incredible staff. It’s an amazing opportunity for all of our sleepaway campers!

Our camps provide more than just fun summer activities; they offer a safe and welcoming community where kids can make lifelong friends, gain confidence and hone valuable skills. For new camp families, sending their child to sleepaway camp for the first time is about allowing them to experience all the activities and great facilities. But for many of these parents, it’s the friendships their children gain that keep bringing them back year after year. We strive to create an environment where kids can be themselves, appreciate each other and have a safe place to make memories that will last forever.

Our staff ratio of one staff member for every four campers ensures that each child is able to get the individualized attention they need. We recognize the importance of our camp counselors, so we make sure they are properly trained with a two week intensive training program. The framework established through this experience is essential in creating an environment where our campers not only feel safe but can have the greatest two weeks of their lives! What’s even more special is that many of our beloved staff members were former campers themselves, so they know exactly what kind of fun experiences to offer the kids!

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
While campers are at the forefront of what we do at summer camp, the relationship we have with parents and the whole family – is important to our entire staff. We know that whether it is a campers’ first time away from home, or their tenth time at camp, communication is important.
We pledge we will:
- Offer your child a positive, safe and supportive community where kids make new friends, try new things and learn independence and other life skills.
- Upload photos online daily so you can see what your child and his/her friends are enjoying at camp. We want you to feel connected to the stories shared with you when the session is over.
- Send an email from your child’s counselors within the first several days of the session letting you know how your child is doing.
- Ensure we return any calls you make to camp with questions or concerns before the end of the following meal.
- Update our social media and blog with news as to what’s happening at camp several times each week.
