Meet Our Horses

7-29-113.jpgCamp Jewell has over 30 horses each summer. Our horses vary in size, breed, gender, training level and certainly personality. The one thing they all have in common is their reliability as safe and enjoyable lesson horses for our riders. Prior to every summer, each horse is evaluated to determine the appropriate age group and riding level.

Camp Jewell also owns three Percherons which is a breed of draft horse. Our Percherons, Prince, Davis and Byron, are used year round for giving wagon rides, while Prince and Davis and are also used in our vaulting program.

Our most famous horse, Arnold the pony, not only serves as one of our lesson horses, but gives lots and lots of pony rides all year long and has his own column in the Camp Jewell Camper Newsletter.
